Many opportunities exist for anyone who feels called by God to take on leadership responsibilites with regard to the worship service in the Episcopal Church. The Bishop of a diocese will issue licenses to lay persons to serve as Pastoral Leader, Worship Leader, Eucharistic Minister, or Eucharistic Visitor. Requirements and guidelines for the selection, training, continuing education, and deployment of such persons and the duration of licenses are established by the Bishop in consultation with the Commission on Ministry.
Liturgical Lay Ministry at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church include:
Worship Leaders: Members of the parish who are called to the ministry of Worship Leader go through a diocesan study course and are licensed by the bishop. In the absence of a priest the Worship Leader may lead Morning and Evening Prayer and preach approved sermons.
Worship Leaders licensed to lead worship in the absence of an ordained minister at St. Timothy's include; Nancy BakerCazan, Sarah Douglas, Bob Meyer, John Muhlbach, and Jane Warner.
Lector/Intercessors: Members of the parish who are called to the ministry of Lector/Intercessor are authorized to read Holy Scripture lessons and prayers during public worship.
Our Lector/ Intercessors are; Sandy Aegerter, Ed Breyfogle, Nancy BakerCazan, George Cazan, Terry Iddings, Bob Meyer, John Mauhlbach, Doug Miller, Anne Smith, Evan Smith, Steve Smith and Jane Warner.
Eucharistic Ministers: Members of the parish who are called to Eucharistic Ministry are those specially trained and licensed by the bishop of the diocese to assist the ordained minister during the Eucharist to administer the chalice. Our Eucharistic Ministers include:Sandy Aegerter, Ed Breyfogle, Nancy BakerCazan,Jess Carroll, Terry Iddings, Bob Meyer, John Mauhlbach, Doug Miller, Anne Smith, Evan Smith, Steve Smith and Jane Warner.
Eucharistic Visitor: Members of the parish who are called to the ministry of Eucharistic Visitor are licensed to take Holy Communion from the altar to Sunday morning to sick or shut-in members of the parish. Our Eucharistic Visitors are; Sally Armour, John Muhlbach and LeRoy Curtis.
